YUMA NISHIMURA
Yuma Nishimura was born in 1995. He graduated from the Nihon University College of Art Department of Design in 2018. He has been creating projects with the idea of leaving one’s existence behind for future discovery as the concept. Influenced by futurists like Kevin Kelly and Ray Kurzweil, he captures the merits and demerits of human development and technological evolution that come from nebulous visions of the future in photographs of everyday moments. By considering internal and external structures, he elucidates to viewers the ideal state of the next level of humankind, where their physical body and consciousness are no longer connected, due to clones, AI, etc. As he continues to create work, he has participated in competitions and group exhibitions, and has received awards including an individual jury award from the TOKYO FRONTLINE PHOTO AWARD 2022.
